ENGIE signs up to the Business Coalition for Racial and Gender Equality

On March 21, ENGIE Brasil is to hold the event “Race and Gender – Inspirational Stories with Paulo Cézar Lima and Daiana Costa”. The theme is the intersectionality between race and gender and has the aim of covering the company’s Diversity and Culture initiatives incorporating the theme and their impacts on people and the organization.
Within the scope of International Women’s Day and the DE&I (Diversity, Equality and Inclusion) event, ENGIE will also announce during the event that it is signing up to the Business Coalition for Racial and Gender Equality. ENGIE Brasil’s Chief Executive Officer, Maurício Bähr, will sign the adherence agreement during the panel session.
The speakers will address an audience of ENGIE’s employees based in Rio de Janeiro at the event, beginning 9:00 a.m. to be held in the auditorium of the Academia Brasileira de Letras.
The event will include the ex-soccer player Paulo Cézar Lima, popularly known as Paulo Cézar Caju, who will speak about his career in sport as a black man and share the challenges he faced throughout his time as a player. Caju is a protagonist in the theme of racial diversity.
During the panel, Daiana Costa, external communications supervisor at Jirau Energia (the company which operates the hydropower plant of the same name in Rondônia and in which ENGIE holds a 40% stake) will speak about her experiences. She will examine her perspectives in society as a black woman and corporate communications professional. Finally, there will be a discussion on questions of race and gender and the reasons why it is necessary to talk about these themes.
