ENGIE joins B3’s Carbon Efficient Index B3
ENGIE Brasil Energia has been chosen as a component of the new Carbon Efficient Index (ICO2) portfolio of B3 – Brasil, Bolsa e Balcão. The ICO2 is made up of shares of companies participating in the IBrX 100 with the greatest transparency in relation to the report on the greenhouse gas emissions and on how they are preparing for a low carbon economy. The portfolio will be effective from January 4 through April 30 and consists of 62 shares of 58 companies, pertaining to 22 sectors.
With its inception in 2010, B3’s ICO2 aims at being a catalyst for discussion on climate change in Brazil. “To participate in the new ICO2 portfolio is recognition of ENGIE’s commitment to the management and transparency in relation to greenhouse gas emissions (“GHG”). Published since 2011, our GHG emissions inventory is one more instrument in our quest for leadership in the transition to a low carbon economy”, the Company’s Chief Executive and Investor Relations Officer, Eduardo Sattamini points out.
This is the first portfolio to include companies in the IBrX 100 which formally presented their greenhouse gas inventories to B3 in 2020.
ENGIE’s shares have been components in B3’s Corporate Sustainability Stock Index for 16 years
In addition to comprising the new Carbon Efficient Index (ICO2) of B3 – Brasil, Bolsa e Balcão, ENGIE Brasil Energia’s shares have also been components of the stock exchange’s Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) for 16 years. The index reflects the average return from a theoretical portfolio of shares of listed companies employing the best environmental, social and governance practices (ESG). The Company has been part of B3’s portfolio since its inception in 2005, underscoring the Company’s historic commitment to the highest standards of sustainability and governance. ISE is considered the most important corporate sustainability stock index in Brazil and the fourth in the world with its principal aim being to maintain the perpetuation and internalization of the theme in companies.
