ENGIE concession bid on Aneel auction
This Thursday, June 30, at an auction held at the B3 main offices, in São Paulo, ENGIE Brasil Energia placed the winning bid to build, operate and maintain transmission lines and a substation in the state of Pará that complement the Novo Estado Project. The company won by offering a 59,9% percent discount from the regulator’s minimum annual allowed revenue.
The concession is aligned with ENGIE Brasil Energia’s growth strategy in the energy transmission area through infrastructure projects that strengthen the National Interconnected System (SIN), and is important to diversify local operations for the Group, which is active in renewable electric energy generation, energy transmission, and gas transportation through its equity interest in TAG. “We have two synergistic projects. We were able to optimize efforts through our prior experience in the region, in addition to the resources used, which enabled implementing our future vision in a responsible way,” said Eduardo Sattamini, ENGIE Brasil Energia’s Chief Executive and Investor Relations Officer. The Novo Estado Project is being implemented in the states of Pará and Tocantins, and covers more than 1,800 kilometers of transmission lines.
The concession period for the public transmission service, including construction, assembly, operation and maintenance of the transmission facilities, will be 30 years from execution of the concession agreement. The Company expects to reduce total investment in implementation of the projecy to exceed 20 percent, and approximately 18 months’ anticipated commercial startup relative to the Aneel-stipulated deadlines. These are estimates and subject to change.
