ENGIE Brasil Energia’s shares are included in B3’s Sustainability Index (ISE) for the 16th consecutive year

ENGIE Brasil Energia’s shares have been included in the portfolio of Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão’s (B3) stock index for the 16th consecutive year.  The new portfolio will be effective from January 4, 2021 to December 30, 2021 and will consist of 46 shares of 39 companies, pertaining to 15 sectors, corresponding to 38% of the total value traded on B3. The index reflects the average return of a theoretical portfolio of shares of the listed companies with the best environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.

Participation in the ISE for the 16th consecutive year underscores the Company’s historic commitment with the highest standards of sustainability and governance.  “The extremely challenging environment experienced in 2020 and marked by the pandemic, has prompted some important reflections and lessons for all of us. ENGIE has positioned itself in a very cooperative way in this major collective project which was to tackle the direct and indirect effects of the pandemic, this pointing the way towards coordinating a collective effort on other fronts such as climate change and the preservation of ecosystems and biodiversity” comments, Eduardo Sattamini, the Company’s Chief Executive and Investor Relations Officer.

“We continue working to spearhead the use of innovative technologies which minimize the environmental impacts of our operations, also incorporating the process of collective creation in conjunction with partners and society”, Sattamini adds.

ENGIE has been a component of the ISE since inception

ENGIE Brasil Energia has been a component of the ISE since inception in 2005. Only five companies listed on B3 have also been part of the index since its launch. ISE is considered the most important corporate sustainability stock index in Brazil and the fourth in the world. Its principal objective aims for its perpetuation and to ensure that the theme is enshrined as part of the companies’ inhouse culture. “The electric sector has been one of the motors of global decarbonization and ENGIE is proposing to spearhead this movement by offering solutions which are both renewable and in close proximity to the clients”, Sattamini points out.
