ENGIE Brasil Energia acquires the Serra do Assuruá wind project, state of Bahia

On May 5, 2022, the Board of Directors of ENGIE Brasil Energia approved the acquisition of the development rights of Serra do Assuruá, contingent on fulfilling certain conditions precedent. The project is to be implemented in the same state where the Company operates the Umburanas, Campo  Largo 1 and Campo Largo 2 wind complexes.

With a maximum value of R$ 265 million, the acquisition includes 24 grants for developing and operating wind projects totaling 882 MW, together with other assets such as a leasing agreement and wind and wind measurement tower data pertaining to the current project owners, PEC Energia S.A. The project is notable for the availability of a guaranteed hookup to the grid, the National Interconnected System, eligibility to transmission tariff reduction benefits and a preliminary environmental license issued by INEMA, the state of Bahia environmental protection agency.

Now including Assuruá, our portfolio of projects at an advanced stage of development has now reached the 3 GW mark”, commented the Company’s Chief Executive and Investor Relations Officer, Eduardo Sattamini.
