The new group company further expands ENGIE’s range of solutions for the Cities of Tomorrow and will be the platform to leverage business through public lighting PPPs, according to ENGIE Brasil’s CEO, Maurício Bähr. “The lighting network is a city’s neural system, as it enables loading up additional solutions like surveillance cameras, internet services and more,” he adds.
Sadenco is a powerful player in public lighting systems operations and maintenance in the State of Santa Catarina, with a presence in the cities of Florianópolis, Blumenau and Joinville, in addition to Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul) and Santos (São Paulo).
The company currently employs 140 and intends to hire additional staff as business expands.
STRATEGIC PILLARS AND INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
According to the CEO of ENGIE Brasil, the acquisition is in line with the group’s strategic pillars worldwide.
“In the case of decarbonization, smart public lighting enables reducing energy consumption. As for digitalization, we predict the ability to create a platform for other smart solutions for cities. ENGIE’s direct offering to City Halls, in its turn, is in line with decentralization, supporting local authorities in their energy transition process,” Bähr explains.
ENGIE currently operates over 1.5 million public lighting points around the world, and is one of the market’s leaders.
