ENGIE renews membership of the Corporate Pact for Integrity and Against Corruption
ENGIE has renewed its membership of Ethos Institute’s Corporate Pact for Integrity and Against Corruption which has as its proposal the fostering, dissemination and raising of awareness of the importance of ethical management in the Brazilian business world through the implementation of practices and attitudes for preventing bribery and corruption.
The Pact was created for connecting and mobilizing companies in the establishment of an integral, transparent, and ethical market, contributing to the mitigation of the risks of bribery and corruption. Says Cristina Riggenbach, ENGIE´s Ethics Forum Coordinator, the formal and voluntary signing up to the commitments under the initiative illustrates how the Company is committed to transmitting these principles to its employees, government agents and to the market as a whole. “With this in mind, we aim to add our name to other companies and collaborate so that these ideals are disseminated for improving the prevailing relations between the public and private sectors, thus combatting corruption and impunity”, Cristina notes.
By renewing its membership to the Corporate Pact for integrity and Against Corruption, ENGIE reinforces its public commitment with ethics and integrity in the corporate environment and in the managing of its businesses in a responsible and sustainable way. In addition, the Company undertakes to prevent any form of corruption, to promote the values of integrity, transparency and to disclose Brazilian anti-corruption legislation to its employees and outside stakeholders. “We believe it is very important to be a part of this group of companies. ENGIE’s participation in collective movements is one of the guidelines in the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Program. This renewed membership reinforces our engagement for integrity and transparency in the management of the businesses as well as in the fight against corruption”, declares Eduardo Sattamini, Chief Executive and Investor Relations Officer of ENGIE Brasil Energia.
Compliance and anti-corruption initiatives
The renewal of its membership of the Ethos Institute’s Corporate Pact for Integrity and Against Corruption is one more step forward in the way ENGIE conducts its businesses based on ethics and integrity, aligned to the best practices of governance such as those set forth in the Brazilian Corporate Governance Code (CBGC), launched in 2016 and prepared by GT Interagentes, a group of 11 capital markets-related institutions under the coordination of the Brazilian Corporate Governance Institute (IBGC).
ENGIE (EGIE3) also trades on the Novo Mercado, a listing segment of B3 made up of companies with the most transparent corporate rules and which enhances the rights of minority investors.
