ENGIE, Brazil\u2019s leading renewable energy company, placed the winning bid this Wednesday (28) at the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) auction for Public Lighting in Curitiba (state of Paran\u00e1), held at B3, in S\u00e3o Paulo. ENGIE proposed monthly payments of R$ 1.1 million, a 71% negative premium vis-\u00e0-vis the ceiling as per the bidding documents. The 23-year agreement provides for operation, maintenance and expansion of the city\u2019s public lighting infrastructure, with over 160 thousand light points.

\nAside from benefitting society, PPPs provide a favorable business model for investors, as revenues are guaranteed by the Contribution to Public Lighting Service Funding (\u201cContribui\u00e7\u00e3o para o Custeio do Servi\u00e7o de Ilumina\u00e7\u00e3o P\u00fablica\u201d \u2013 Cosip) \u2013 which is levied on power bills, which enables attracting players interested in developing Public Lighting projects.
