The company won the dispute by offering a discount of 35% against the lowest annual revenue allowed by the regulatory agency.<\/p>\n
The venture will require BRL2.017 billion in investments, with an estimated generation of more than 4,000 direct jobs. The eight new transmission lines and complementary stretches that integrates the lot, located in Paran\u00e1, are 1,146 km long. The group also plans to install five power substations. The term of the concession of the public transmission service, including the construction, assembly, operation and maintenance of transmission facilities, will be of thirty years from the date of execution of the concession contract.<\/p>\n
ENGIE’s investment in this new segment for the company, the transmission lines, is in line with the company’s objective of diversifying the Group’s activities in the country.<\/p>\n
“We see the opportunity to expand and diversify our operations in the country and enter the transmission segment, which, by reinforcing new lines, improves the energy efficiency of the sector – one of the basic premises of ENGIE in its investments,” said Maur\u00edcio B\u00e4hr, CEO of ENGIE Brazil.<\/p>\n
The executive also pointed out that by transporting electricity more efficiently, transmission lines contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and, therefore, are eligible to be part of the Green Bond portfolio issued by the Group.<\/p>\n
According to B\u00e4hr, ENGIE has studied in detail all lots of transmission lines made available for concession in order to identify and map its attractiveness and its environmental impacts.<\/p>\n
