ENGIE opens call for proposals for social projects with a focus on education
The Covid-19 pandemic has had innumerous impacts on education, among which the difficulty of access to remote learning and the learning deficit. By way of a contribution to the improvement of this scenario over the short term, especially when set against a background of the resumption of onsite classes, ENGIE Brasil Energia is opening the 1st edition of the Energy Social Responsibility Call for Proposals with a Focus on Education (Responsabilidade Social Energia à Educação), in particular involving a reduction in truancy or the development of new competencies and skills for teachers and/or students.
ENGIE is to allocate a total of R$ 500 thousand of investments to the program with the aim of reaching out to eight thousand students. Eligible for participating in the call for proposals are associations, schools, teachers and students. Their actions will have as beneficiaries, children and adolescents at elementary and/or junior high school level as well as those projects with actions which have a range of beneficiaries involved with professionalizing studies and/or directed towards the development of teachers for example. Resources may be applied to the acquisition of equipment or inputs/materials; construction or retrofitting; training and qualification; outsourced services; and other expenses, conditional on the latter being duly justified and itemized in the proposal.
“Social responsibility is a factor which is directly associated to our corporate strategy. In this context, our understanding is that growth only makes sense if it penetrates broadly throughout the communities in which we are present. Fostering educational projects is one of the pillars of our operation as we continue preparations for the future. It is in this scenario that there is an urgent need to maximize learning and help adolescents and children to reach their absolute potential”, says Luciana Nabarrete, Chief Administrative Officer at ENGIE Brasil Energia.
Enrollments must be made through the website www.engie.com.br/editaleducacao., by November 17. Up to 30 initiatives will be chosen in the regions where the company has operations, 20 in the first category and up to 10 in the second, each one of which will be eligible to receive the maximum amount of up to R$ 30 thousand.
